Product Overview

Kromschröder BIC, BICA and ZIC are gas burners used with a TSC silicon-carbide ceramic tube. The tube forms the firing interface and is selected together with the burner, allowing the assembly to be matched to the required capacity, discharge characteristics and furnace construction.

The range covers industrial furnaces and firing systems in metal processing, along with other applications described in the manufacturer’s literature. Housing materials and available versions differ across BIC, BICA and ZIC. Those differences influence the suitable combustion-air temperature and installation arrangement, so the series name should be followed by the complete configuration.

The Ceramic Tube Is Part of the Selection

A TSC tube is more than a mounting accessory: its geometry helps establish the firing behaviour of the assembly. The manufacturer provides tube choices for different furnace linings and application requirements. Burner length, ceramic-tube reference and wall thickness should therefore be considered together when designing a new installation or changing an existing furnace lining.

01

Steel and non-ferrous heat treatment

The manufacturer identifies these metal-processing industries for BIC/ZIC. The burner and ceramic tube are selected for the heating duty of each zone, with the firing direction and temperature cycle coordinated with the load.

02

Furnaces with brick or ceramic-fibre linings

TSC tube arrangements are used to integrate the burner into different furnace-wall constructions. This is relevant during new furnace design or rebuilding, when the wall thickness, support and required firing position can be established together.

03

Dryers, hot-air generators and thermal incineration

These broader applications are described in the manufacturer’s industrial-burner literature. Selection still requires the appropriate tube, duty and air conditions. The ceramic-tube arrangement should not be treated as interchangeable with a BIO burner quarl without an engineering review.

Choosing the Configuration

BIC, BICA and ZIC use different housing materials. The ceramic tube is part of the capacity selection, and the housing determines the applicable combustion-air temperature limit.

Product FAQs

Selection, supply and retrofit guidance for your BIC / BICA / ZIC project.

BIC / BICA / ZIC selection

How are BIC, BICA or ZIC burners matched to a ceramic tube?

The burner and ceramic-tube configuration should be selected together. Tube size, length and the furnace wall or mounting interface influence the complete assembly.

Provide the burner designation if known, furnace temperature, wall thickness and required insertion geometry. Do not choose a tube only from a similar outside dimension; the proposed combination must match the applicable manufacturer configuration.

Can one configuration cover different furnace and air temperatures?

The limits depend on the selected burner variant, materials and tube arrangement. A headline temperature from a wider family document should not be applied to every BIC, BICA or ZIC configuration.

Share the combustion-air temperature range, furnace conditions, fuel and control mode. A furnace layout and burner-position sketch help review the proposed arrangement and the space available around the ceramic tube.

Supply & retrofit

What should be included in the quotation?

State whether the request includes the burner body, the matched ceramic tube, mounting items or selected replacement components. Identify the complete existing configuration when ordering spares.

Ignition, flame supervision, valves, air supply and cycle-control equipment should be itemized separately. The example system diagram does not define the contents of every burner quotation.

What information helps assess a retrofit?

Include the nameplate, burner and tube photos, wall thickness, insertion length and mounting details. Describe the existing firing/control mode and the furnace or process change behind the retrofit.

Available P&ID and electrical drawings help review fuel, air and control interfaces. If replacing a different burner concept, the ceramic-tube assembly and furnace connection require review rather than assuming a direct swap with a refractory-quarl burner.

How are price and lead time confirmed?

Price and lead time depend on the selected configuration, supply scope, quantity and delivery country. Include any planned shutdown date so current availability and the required delivery date can be discussed before ordering.

What if we do not have all the technical information yet?

Start with the application, whether the installation is new or a retrofit, and any model details or photos you have. Mention available P&ID or electrical drawings in the enquiry and share them by email during follow-up.
