Product Overview

Kromschröder ECOMAX is a self-recuperative burner that recovers heat from outgoing combustion gases to preheat incoming combustion air. The recuperator is integrated into the burner, allowing heat recovery to be incorporated into each firing position rather than relying on a separate long hot-air distribution system.

The family includes direct-heating and radiant-tube arrangements. Direct heating introduces combustion gases into the furnace, while a radiant tube keeps them separate from the product or furnace atmosphere. ECOMAX LE adds low-emissions versions with flame and flameless operation, with distinct documentation for its radiant-tube and direct-heating designs.

Heat Recovery and Furnace Atmosphere

The recuperator material, exhaust arrangement and heating method are selected together. Direct-heating ECOMAX installations use an appropriate flue-gas extraction arrangement, while indirect installations combine the burner with a compatible metallic or ceramic radiant tube. For LE versions, the furnace temperature cycle and control sequence must support the specified operating modes; nominal capacity alone does not establish a suitable conversion.

Direct-fired metal heat treatment

The official ECOMAX technical information identifies heat-treatment furnaces in the steel, iron and non-ferrous sectors. The integrated recuperator recovers exhaust heat at the burner. Selection includes the duty of each zone, furnace construction and flue-gas extraction arrangement.

Atmosphere-controlled and aluminium heat treatment

Radiant-tube arrangements are used where combustion gases must remain separated from the workload or furnace atmosphere. The manufacturer specifically identifies inert-atmosphere steel treatment and aluminium heat treatment. Tube material, geometry and temperature must be matched to the burner.

Furnace projects with an emissions requirement

ECOMAX LE is intended for specified low-emissions heat-treatment duties. Radiant-tube and direct versions have different ratings and configurations. An enquiry should identify the required heating method, temperature cycle and emissions measurement basis so the appropriate version can be reviewed.

Choosing the Configuration

Standard ECOMAX, LE radiant-tube and LE direct versions have separate ratings and material limits. Identify the heating arrangement before selecting a size or evaluating a legacy-burner replacement.

Product FAQs

Selection, supply and retrofit guidance for your furnace project.

ECOMAX selection

Do we need direct heating or a radiant-tube arrangement?

The choice starts with the furnace process and atmosphere. Direct heating introduces combustion gases into the furnace; a radiant tube separates them from the workload or furnace atmosphere.

Share the material being heated, atmosphere requirements, temperature cycle and duty per burner. These conditions help establish the appropriate arrangement before choosing an ECOMAX size and material.

Can ECOMAX LE be selected as a direct upgrade?

An LE upgrade needs a configuration review. Standard ECOMAX, LE radiant-tube and LE direct-heating versions have different ratings and material limits. The furnace temperature cycle, heating arrangement, exhaust system and control sequence also matter.

Provide the existing burner details and your emissions requirement, including its measurement basis, so the proposed version can be assessed against the actual furnace conditions.

Supply & retrofit

What should be included in the quotation?

Specify whether the enquiry is for the burner, replacement components or a wider package. Depending on the heating arrangement, you may also need a radiant tube, exhaust components, ignition and flame supervision, or gas and control components.

The quotation should identify the agreed configuration, included items and exclusions; each associated component is confirmed for the selected arrangement.

Can we retain the existing furnace installation?

Retained equipment needs a compatibility review covering the burner opening, wall or tube geometry, exhaust arrangement, utilities and control interfaces.

Share nameplate and installation photos plus a furnace or radiant-tube drawing if available. P&ID (piping and instrumentation diagram) and electrical or control drawings are also useful for identifying what can be retained and what needs further assessment.

How are price and lead time confirmed?

The selected ECOMAX version, size, material, associated components and quantity determine the quotation. Include the delivery country and, for a retrofit, your planned furnace shutdown date.

Once the configuration and supply scope are agreed, current availability and lead time can be confirmed. Any required tube, exhaust or control changes should be considered when planning the project schedule.

What if we do not have all the technical information yet?

Start with the furnace application, whether this is a new installation or retrofit, and any existing model details or photos. Add the temperature cycle, duty per burner and heating arrangement if known.

Mention available furnace, P&ID or electrical drawings in the enquiry; they can be shared by email during follow-up. You can begin the discussion before the full drawing set is ready.
